What's the installation process like?
An installation representative will contact your business to schedule the installation. A technician will need to visit your building and install a new modem. Once the modem is installed and registration is complete, you will have access to the internet and can connect your router/switch.
For voice service installation, active internet service is required with your router/switch installed. You will receive a confirmation email from Viasat to show to Phoenix Cable, where you will pick up the Voice Gateway. Phoenix will configure the Voice Gateway for you to self-install. Instructions will be provided for installing the Voice Gateway, and Viasat’s Customer Care team is available to assist you, if needed.
What equipment is needed to access the Internet?
A modem is provided by Viasat with the purchase of your plan.
You must provide your own equipment (router/switch) to connect via Ethernet cable to the Viasat modem for internet access. Viasat does not provide support for business-owned equipment but can assist you in determining if your modem has connectivity.
You may purchase a router at the Navy Exchange or from other sources. We suggest you connect your router's WAN/internet port directly to the Viasat modem. Then set your router to “router mode". We also recommend enabling WAN DHCP on your router to simplify the connection process. Your assigned IP can be configured statically, if preferred, but is not required. You will receive the same assigned IP with WAN DHCP enabled.
If you have trouble getting your router to work properly, please contact the router's manufacturer.
What equipment is needed to use voice service?
A Viasat-provided Voice Gateway will be required, which will be self-installed.
